Abel Gargallo-Peiró and Josep Sarrate, from LaCàN at UPC, together with Xevi Roca and Jaime Peraire, from ACDL at MIT, have been awarded with the Meshing Maestro Award at the 21st International Meshing Roundtable, held in San Jose, California. They have recieved the award for their poster "Defining quality measures for mesh optimization on parameterized CAD surfaces".

Nanotechnology is a rapidly growing and exciting research area that is constantly issuing new challenges. Research in this field is dominated by experiment and computation, whilst the associated theory required to advance development is lagging behind. The purpose of the Nanomath 2012 Workshop is to provide an overview of nanotechnology developments, with an emphasis on recent developments in Applied Mathematical Modelling.
Cristina Díaz, PhD student of the "Escola de Camins, Canals i Ports" of Barcelona, talks in Spanish for the UPC channel. He talks about computer simulations applied to to noise and vibration reduction in buildings. It is possible to predict the acoustic consequences arising from the design of structures in the field of building construction and civil engineering? How does the the noise and vibration spread?
