As researchers, we are quite used to speak to other scientists within our communities. However, it is always a good exercise to explain our projects to a non-expert and often younger audience. In this case, one must extract the most releva
nt aspects of his/her research and explain them in a way that can be understood by a broad audience. From the project point of view, it is also beneficial to have this kind of outreach activities so the project, its partners and the research done can be advertised and understood by the society.
We were willing to create the space needed for an outreach activity about our project AdMoRe. Among all options, me and Marcos together with our supervisors decided to give a talk at Swansea University targeting undergraduate students. Since we were also planning to give some indications on how to apply for internship positions and graduate jobs at Siemens Helthineers (our industrial partner), we
contacted the employability department at Swansea University and they helped us with booking a room, designing a poster and advertising the talk.
We started the first part of the talk by introducing ourselves and presenting our backgrounds as students. Then, we gave an overview of the AdMoRe project and how we collaborate with the different industrial and academic partners. Also, we briefly described the eight different projects inside AdMoRe, mainly which are the challenges of each project and how do we approach them.
The second part of the talk was given by Marcos. Stay tuned on the #AdMoRe_BlogSeries next week to read his blog about his part of the talk.
