SUMMARY:Determining Small Sound Speed Fluctuations in Glandular Tissue for Specific Breast Model using Boundary Measurements of Acoustical Waves
DESCRIPTION: \nVictoria Filatova is a senior researcher at Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University. She obtained her Ph.D. degree in Physics and Mathematics at Novosibirsk in 2014 with a thesis on “Numerical modeling of dynamic inverse problems in acoustics with boundary control method”. Her research activities involve numerical solving of ultrasound tomography problem\, development of numerical algorithm for solving inverse problem for the wave equation using Boundary Control method\, numerical recovering speed of sound and absorption by Boundary Control method (2D and 3D simulations) in which more than 20 papers were published. \nThe talk is devoted to the problem of determining small sound speed fluctuations in glandular tissue for specific\nbreast model using boundary measurements of acoustical waves. Some results of simulation of this problem in 2D\nare presented. The simulation includes solving direct and inverse problems. Acoustical waves for a given specific\nbreast model were calculated. For solving the inverse problem we used our approach based on visualization of\ninclusions and unknown inner boundary between fat and glandular tissues and determination of speed of sound in\ninclusions using kinematic argument. Numerical solving of the direct and inverse problems uses standard libraries\nof parallel computing – MPI and Open MP- performed on a cluster system. \n
