LaCàN is a research laboratory in UPC BarcelonaTech, established in 2001, aiming at developing mathematical and computational models to understand, quantify, predict and control a variety of physical, engineering, and biological systems. This involves new theoretical frameworks for coupled multiphysics systems, in-depth analysis of models and solvers, new algorithms for high-performance, reduced-order and data-driven computing, and systematic integration of mathematical modeling and experimental observations, with particular insight in the credibility of the outcomes.
LaCàN members are researchers with common interests and complementary skills and background, committed to a common academic project, as an expression of a strongly-integrated and stable partnership.
Furthermore, LaCàN envisions to foster educational and training activities in disciplines pertaining to the broad fields of Computational Science and Engineering, and Mathematical and Computational Modeling.
