Abstract:
The behavior of two stress update algorithms for shear-free large deformation paths is analyzed. The first algorithm has a truncation error of order 1 and the second algorithm of order 2. As a consequence, the global performance of the second algorithm is clearly superior. However, for the particular case of shear-free deformation paths, the first algorithm correctly predicts null shear stresses,
while the second one does not.
